Bishop W. Christopher Waddell

Bishop W. Christopher Waddell was called to serve as second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric on October 9, 2015.

Bishop Waddell had served as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since April 2011.

Wayne Christopher Waddell was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 28, 1959. He married Carol Stansel in July 1984. They are the parents of four children and have three grandchildren. Elder and Sister Waddell reside in Lima, Peru, where he currently serves as a counselor in the South America Northwest Area presidency. He will continue to serve in Peru for a short time as his responsibilities are transferred.

Bishop Waddell received a bachelor’s degree in 1984 from San Diego State University. Beginning in 1984 he worked with Merrill Lynch in several positions, including first vice president of investments.

Bishop Waddell has served in numerous Church callings, including as a full-time missionary in Spain, and is fluent in Spanish.
