Middle East Area Presidency Thanks United Arab Emirates for Religious Tolerance

The Middle East/Africa North Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has congratulated leaders of the United Arab Emirates on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the International Day of Human Fraternity. In letters to several government leaders, Elder Anthony D. Perkins, Elder Alvin F. Meredith III and Elder Roland J. Bäck recognized the signing of the Document of Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2019, saying it was "a historic day that continues to have a positive impact on the United Arab Emirates, its partners and the Gulf region."

The Area Presidency said, "We are grateful for the culture of mutual respect, tolerance, and coexistence on which the UAE is built and which is continuously encouraged and demonstrated by the leadership of your country. This visionary approach of respectfully and freely worshipping is greatly appreciated by Latter-day Saints living in the United Arab Emirates."

The Church has announced the construction of a temple in Dubai, which will be the first Latter-day Saint temple in the Middle East.
